How to Sing Happy Birthday In German
By Iesus Church's Typewriter | April XX, MMXXIII
The only problem with singing Happy Birthday in German is that,
according to ThoughtCo, even in German it is sung in English and only
occasionally sung in German. And indeed, look up Zum Guberstag (i.e.
Happy Birthday) and you will find German titles with English songs.
However, that doesn't stop us from singing it in German. Here are the
lyrics: (sing to the tune of Happy Birthday:)
Zum Geburtstag viel Glück,
Zum Geburtstag viel Glück,
Zum Geburtstag alles Gute,
Zum Geburtstag viel Glück.
Additionally, here is an audio of the song.
Now, that's not a real German song, for Happy Birthday to You is an
American song (from Louisville, Kentucky). (That is an example of
cultural replacement and cultural diffusion, a cancerous effect of
American globalization and hegemony as that which Rammstein sung
against in his famous song Amerika. (Click here to learn more.)) This
is the traditional German song, Hoch Soll Er Leben [Play]:
Hoch soll er leben!
Hoch soll er leben!
Dreimal hoch!
Hoch soll er leben!
Hoch soll er leben!
Drei mal hoch!
Er leben hoch er leben!
Hoch er leben hoch!
El leben hoch er leben!
Hoch er leben hoch!
Hoch hoch er leben hoch!
Hoch hoch er leben hoch!
Hoch hoch hoch hoch!
So, there you have it, happy birthday Hitler. Happy April 20th every-
body! Heil Hitler! Moreover you can sing Die Fahne Hoch [Play] or
Deustchlandlied. Heil! 卐
